Our family has a long-standing history of raising and caring for horses, donkeys and mules on the island of Santorini. Since 1927, when Roussetos Katsipis first brought horses on the island, the Katsipis family has owned stables and to this day, we have bred and raised these magnificent animals that play a significant role in Santorini’s everyday life.

The family history begins at 1927 from Roussetos Katsipis that he brought and raised the first animals on the island. Donkeys and mules worked hard to build the island’s capital and the beautiful Caldera of Santorini.
Maris Horse Riding, is born from our father Marinos Katsipis as he has long love for donkeys & mules since 7 years old with his father Rousseto that always took him in the farm, our family has owned land and livestock in the village for 4 generations until today.
The creation of the horse-riding association in Exo Katoikies reflects our love of the village and surrounding lands and a desire to maintain the heritage of the island. To share with others the amazing experience of riding a beautiful animal along ancient paths through the natural wonder of the Santorini landscape.
Maris Horse Riding Stables is home to 10 horses as Roussetos his son love to produce and raise horses in their farm , each with their unique personality and character. As responsible equine owners, all our animals receive daily attention, and are feed and kept in the cleanest, healthiest conditions. They have access to expert veterinary assistance 24/7 and they could not be more loved.
Our trained instructor-guides will match you to a horse that will suit you and your riding experience, they live and work with the horses 365 days of the year. They have a strong bond with their animals based on respect and trust and we kindly ask you to also show a respectful attitude to your chosen horse and the guides.
Μaris Horse Riding provides you the necessary equestrian equipment to ensure your physical safety. Also, if you are inexperienced rider before riding, we provide basic training and orientation needed from Roussetos his son.
If you visit our stables you will meet personally with Marinos (Maris) and his son Roussetos and the lovely Evgenia the wife of Marinos and mother of Roussetos who own and manage the Farm.
